Why do chiropractors often use xrays ? Listed are some of the important reasons we would take films before/during your treatment.
1. X-rays help us see what’s truly going on with your spine.
With films, we can see a static version of what your spine looks like, this can dictate the mobility of your spine in motion. Restoring motion is a key aspect in chiropractic care, and xrays can help us determine what type of results we are capable of achieving.
2. Films are a great diagnostic instrument.
First off, films give us visual picture of what we are feeling with spinal motion. This allows us to be more specific with our findings. Xrays often show conditions before we even start to FEEL symptoms. These conditions could prove to cause issues in the future. Xrays take the guessing out of the equation.
An x-ray can also reveal health conditions that may be life threatening, those are good things to know before starting a care plan!
3. Helps determine function by showing the structure.
As stated previously, function is the most important aspect we treat as chiropractors. Poor structure often leads to poor function. Any structural issues will often lead to degeneration of the spinal vertebrae, which can lead to a host of issues. Examples of these conditions are, disc degeneration, loss of curvature in the cervical, thoracic, or lumbar spine, forward head posture- to name a few.
“To see is to know and not to see is to guess.” Many chiropractors don’t use films for diagnosis, which is OK, but when it comes to the health and safety of our patients, OK isn’t good enough
