Swanwood
Located in Polk County, Swanwood is a small town with a big city buzz. It has plenty of outdoor activities to keep the whole family busy. In fact, it is often described as a family destination. The company has three locations in the state, and will be operating out of its newest location in April 2022. It is also the location of the town's namesake.
Swanwood is not to be confused with the nearby town of Old Main, which is also a cynical name for a historic building on the campus of Grand View University in Iowa City. In fact, the Old Main is the oldest building in the metro area. However, the town is not the only surviving building from the colonial era.
The town is also home to the aforementioned Brown Warehouse Company, as well as an impressive collection of artifacts from the area's past. One of the most interesting things is the assemblage of the remains of the town's original settler, the aforementioned Joseph Smith. This is a fitting tribute to the town's early days.
